Nagpur University was established August 4, 1923 six colleges and 927 affiliated
students. In 1947, the number of students at about 9000 accompanied by an improvement and diversification of programs and expanding the number of subjects. The expansion of the library and sports facilities occurred during these years of intellectual property and physical well-being of students. In 1958 some new departments in the arts and social science faculties were opened, the greatest expansion, but it came in 1963 when science and several other academic departments has been launched. Departments have been moved to spacious premises in the main campus in 1972-73. In recent years, several professional training courses have started to say., Business Management, fine arts, mass communication, librarians, physical education, etc.
During 78 years of its existence, the university has developed well and doing well in the middle of limitations of different types. This was possible because of the vision of the future of higher education of those who idolized president of the rector of the university. Their determination and dedication have contributed to many things at this university.
